What this policy covers
This policy explains what personal information we collect through opsergo.com, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have over it. It applies to visitors to our website and to people who get in touch with us.
Information we collect
We collect information in the following ways:
When you use our contact form, we collect your first name, last name, email address, and (optionally) your phone number, along with whatever you tell us about your business in the message itself. This is sent to us by email and kept on file so we can respond to you and keep a record of the enquiry.
When you sign up to our newsletter, we collect your email address only, so we can send you the newsletter.
When you browse our website, we use cookies, which are small files stored on your device. Some are necessary for the site to work. With your consent, we also use cookies that help us understand how the site is used (analytics) and, where relevant, cookies used for marketing purposes. You can choose which of these you accept using the cookie banner shown when you first visit, and you can change your choice at any time by clearing your cookies and revisiting the site. Your choice is remembered for up to 182 days.
We do not collect payment information through this website, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to enquiries sent through our contact form
- Send our newsletter to people who have asked to receive it
- Understand how our website is used, so we can improve it, where you have consented to analytics cookies
- Meet our legal and accounting obligations
Our legal basis for processing
We rely on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:
- Legitimate interests: responding to enquiries you send us, and understanding how our website is used in aggregate
- Consent: sending you our newsletter, and using non-essential cookies (analytics and marketing)
- Legal obligation: where we are required to keep certain records, for example for accounting purposes
You can withdraw consent at any time. For the newsletter, every email includes an unsubscribe link. For cookies, you can change your choice as described above.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:
- Service providers who help us run our website, email, and business operations (for example, hosting and email delivery providers), who only process your data on our instructions
- Professional advisers such as our accountant, where necessary
- Law enforcement or regulators, where we are required to by law
We do not transfer your personal information outside the UK in a way that requires additional safeguards, other than where our service providers' infrastructure requires it, in which case we ensure appropriate protections are in place.
How long we keep your information
We keep contact form enquiries for as long as is reasonably necessary to respond to you and maintain a business record, and no longer than we need to. Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Cookie consent choices are kept for up to 730 days so we know your preference without having to ask again every visit.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Ask us to delete your information, where there is no good reason for us to keep it
- Ask us to restrict or object to how we use your information
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we are relying on consent
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, if you think we have not handled your information properly
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at neil@opsergo.com. You can contact the ICO at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if the way we use cookies or handle enquiries changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. We encourage you to check back occasionally.
